About This Spot

Pulling up to Catfish Floyd’s on Ann Arbor Avenue, you immediately sense a no-frills, down-to-earth spot where good food comes first. The quiet hum of the drive-thru window and the friendly greeting from the staff set a welcoming tone, even if the pace here feels intentionally unhurried—like a local secret that’s been quietly satisfying appetites for years.

Catfish Floyd’s embodies the spirit of a casual neighborhood eatery, where the comfort of familiar flavors meets a genuine, lived-in atmosphere. There’s a simple joy in the ritual of waiting for a freshly fried catfish fillet wrapped up just right, the unmistakable aroma of seasoned fish mingling with warm hush puppies and that zing of house-made tartar sauce. Though the space inside doesn’t invite lingering, the kindness of the people and the care in the food make up for any missing ambiance, turning every quick stop into a small moment of connection.

The menu might be straightforward, but it doesn’t lack character. Crisp, golden fillets and perfectly spiced fish nuggets feel like a nod to tradition, each bite revealing attention to seasoning and freshness that locals recognize and appreciate. The sides—cool, tangy coleslaw, just-right hush puppies, and the occasional unexpected turkey leg or spicy pepper—offer a balance that feels thoughtfully considered rather than rushed.

Visiting Catfish Floyd’s is less about a polished dining experience and more about embracing a piece of Dallas’s culinary story. It’s a place where a simple meal becomes memorable through honest flavors and everyday kindness, reminding you why some local spots endure: they nourish not only the body but also a sense of community.

Had the 3 piece catfish with fries and it was a solid meal for me and my wife. The fish seasoning and the sauce it came with was good. The fries could be better.

The fish was good and loved the spicy tarter sauce and hush puppies but the atmosphere was not giving vibe and you can't go in at all. But the lady at the window was very nice and gave me more pieces of fish than I ordered.

I was passing thru from Houston, stopped by after asking for the best catfish around, was directed to this place... Excellent! And they took care of me... Taste like clean catfish, meaning without the oily taste of fish, which means they seasoned and prepped the fish very good...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review for Catfish Floyd’s Catfish Floyd’s is a staple classic — a must-try every time I’m in the Dallas area! I always stop by for their catfish fillets with fries. The fish is always crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Their hush puppies aren’t my absolute favorite, but their tartar sauce is homemade, well-seasoned, and has that perfect Cajun twist — not the typical kind that comes from a bottle or packet. It’s honestly the best tartar sauce I’ve ever had! I also love pairing the meal with a nice strawberry soda — it goes perfectly with the catfish. If you’re ever in Dallas, this spot is a must!

I waited until they opened at 11 after I got done with my VA appointment early at 10. Glad I waited because the food was delicious just like my homeboy said. Perfectly seasoned not salty at all and fresh. The cook was very nice and started my order before opening so I could get back home to Frisco. I will be back
